1. Site design, code & copy

The HTML, CSS, JavaScript, page structure, written copy describing the firm's practice areas, attorney biographies, and the visual design system (typography pairing, colour palette, layout grids, animations) are original work commissioned by Phosa Loots Attorneys Inc.

© 2026 Phosa Loots Attorneys Inc. All rights reserved. Unauthorised reproduction of the design, layout or written copy is prohibited.

2. Logo & brand assets

  • Phosa Loots Attorneys logo (full colour & reversed-white variant) — © Phosa Loots Attorneys Inc. Trademark of the firm.
  • Maroon palette (#781316 primary) — sampled from the firm's existing logo. Used throughout the site as the firm's identifying colour. © Phosa Loots Attorneys Inc.
  • Favicons — derived from the firm's logo. © Phosa Loots Attorneys Inc.

3. Typography

All three typefaces are served via Google Fonts and licensed under the SIL Open Font License (OFL) 1.1, which permits free use, including for commercial purposes.

4. Photography & imagery

4.1   Site photography (locally hosted)

  • Homepage hero — bookcase / law library (assets/img/hero-bookcase.jpg) — stock photograph used under a royalty-free license that permits use in commercial websites without attribution. Sourced from a free-license stock photography library; preserved as-supplied without modification of the photographic content.
  • "Who we are" — reading glasses on book (assets/img/who-glasses.jpg) — stock photograph, same licence terms as above.

These images are used decoratively to evoke a professional legal-services environment and depict no identifiable persons. If you are the original rights-holder of either image and require an attribution credit, please contact us using the takedown address below and we will add or remove the image promptly.

4.2   Practice-area imagery (firm's existing WP archive)

Every photograph that appears on a practice-area page (Commercial Law, Mining Law, Immigration, Family Law Mediation, etc.) is hosted on the firm's existing WordPress install at phosalootsatt.co.za/wp-content/uploads/. These images were originally selected, uploaded and used by the firm on its previous website. The new site references them from their existing locations so that all original metadata, alt text and provenance remain intact. Any attribution that was associated with these images on the WordPress site continues to apply.

4.3   News-article featured images

Featured images on internal news-archive articles (under /news/) are hosted from the firm's existing WordPress media library. Where the original news article identifies a specific photographer or agency in its caption — for example "File photo by RAJESH JANTILAL / AFP via Getty Images" in the military veterans reparations article — that attribution is preserved verbatim in the article body. Where the original publisher's attribution was not captured at time of archive, the image is shown with its original visible watermarks (if any) and a link to the original publisher is provided at the foot of every news article.

5. External news & press coverage (35 articles)

The articles linked below were independently published by South African news outlets and reference Phosa Loots Attorneys, Dr Mathews Phosa, Andries Nkome or the firm's case work. All links open in a new tab and direct readers to the original publisher's website. We do not host or mirror the article text or images from these publishers. Copyright in each headline, article body and accompanying photograph remains with the original publisher and their photographers.

Short quotations or paraphrased summaries shown alongside each link are provided under the fair-dealing provisions of section 12 of the South African Copyright Act 98 of 1978 for the purpose of news reporting and review. Attribution is preserved in every case.

6. Internal news archive (16 articles)

The articles under /news/ on this site are a preservation of an existing media archive that the firm has maintained on its WordPress install since 2023. Each piece documents case work the firm has been directly involved in (the Marikana civil claim, the Jagersfontein mine-dam disaster, the military veterans reparations claim, and related matters). Where the body of an article identifies its original publisher (e.g. "Full article on mg.co.za"), that attribution is preserved verbatim in the archived copy.

Where a third party retains copyright in any portion of the original article text or photographs, that copyright remains with them. The firm preserves the archive in good faith as a record of its public-interest case work; we are happy to redact or replace any material on written request from the rights-holder.
